The Power of Beauty

Pinned Image
All these photos come from my Pinterest board, the Beautiful World and I couldn't help but pair it with the song lyric from above. To me, there is such an incredible amount of beauty in our world and its within nature, animals, humans and even man-made things. Our world is stunning, everything about it. Some people have a hard time finding this beauty, start somewhere. I am able to find beauty in my office, my crossfit gym, my apartment, my friends, my family, my coworkers....just look. It's power will amaze you.

Craving Spring

Pinned Image

As much as Summer is my favorite season by a landslide, I am so excited for spring this year. For pairing florals, rocking bright colors, buying mint colored jeans and experimenting with my preppy side. I am sick of wearing black all the time and the gloomy weather we seem to have all the time in NY. I just want to feel the sun and be able to show off my outfits without having to put a big ugly coat over it! I know, I can't really complain, our winter has been mild, but how nice would it be to flaunt some bare Crossfit legs right about now?? :)

Have a fabulous day!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!

Happy Birthday to my Momma, a beautiful and incredibly supportive mother I have been lucky to have grown up with!!

Have a great day, Mom!

Your Body

Pinned Image
Happy Friday! I am definitely ready for the weekend and for tomorrow to workout again! Starting crossfit has expanded the meaning of this quote for me. Taking care of my body is not just about working out and pushing my limits, it's about moderating what I put in my body (foodwise) and giving myself the rest I need. After this past week's workouts, I was extremely sore, I felt it in places I have never felt before. I was all ready to go back to the gym last night, but I stopped myself to let my muscles recover.

Goals for the weekend:
Have a kick ass workout tomorrow
Stretch and relax
stick to my 75% Gluten Free plan
Dress like a bad ass :) haha

Have a great weekend

Valentine's Pink

[Didn't wear this out :) ]
As you all know, I love Valentines day and these were my V-day week/day outfits for this year. The skirt I wore to my good friend's apartment for a birthday party, oh and to the spa (yes massages were, and always will be, in order for this holiday). And then the picture on the bottom I wore for my work day on actual Valentine's day. This day always reminds me how little red and pink I have in my wardrobe and I have been dying to pull off the two colors together...

Well, I'm extremely sore and it hurts to type and I am rambling...so have a great day!

Find the Time

Pinned Image

As a New Yorker, this is beyond perfect. We are always on the run, rarely worrying about ourselves or other people. Always saying, "Oh, I'll do that another time or I will hang out with them next week." Another time turns into never and next week turns into next month. Before we know it another year has gone by and we don't feel accomplished or like we were really living with purpose. This doesnt mean everyone should go save the world and/or do things completely selfishly, but...make time. Make time for the little things and the important people in your life, including yourself. Life is too short not to cherish every moment, especially the moments of silence and those of laughter and those of peace.

Work Week

[Boots: Necessary Clothing, Skirt: Banana Republic, Top: GAP, Sweater:Express]
Just two outfits I wore to work last week. I really ended up loving the bright blue/purple combination below! That skirt got reallll tight after eating lunch though! hahah.

Coming back from a long weekend is tough. I had Sunday completely off and got to spend some time with some family I haven't seen in a couple of years which was really nice, except I had cake! Been trying so hard not to eat too much gluten and that is like gluten heaven! I guess its okay after doing the Filthy Fifty at crossfit on Saturday---50 box jumps, 50 jumping pull-ups, 50 kettlebell swings, 50 walking lunges, 50 knees to elbow, 50 push pres, 50 back extensions, 50 wall ball shots, 50 burpees, 50 double unders (I did tuck jumps)...ridiculous, but it felt great! Feeling good from a workout means feeling good in my clothes. Are we starting to see the HUGE connection between fitness and fashion? :P

Do it

Pinned Image

I know, you just love  my inspirational quotes! Ha, they get me through my days! My pinterest, "Words to Live By" board is one of my favorites. Anyways....

We can't all always have what we want or what we think will make us happy, but we can all take what we have and the points we are at in our lives and do what we can with it. Make the best of it. Create something big out of something small. Bring joy out of every situation. Leave behind expectations and just cherish what you have. Expectations only lead to disappointment. Just be happy with what you have.

Have a great Holiday weekend!!!

The most difficult skirt...

[Shoes and Sweater: American Eagle, Tights: Betsey Johnson, Skirt and Belt: GAP, Shirt: China, Scarf: Forever21]

This outfit was from MONTHS ago, but I had it in my drafts for a while and I figured I would just post it. I haven't worn this skirt since this day and I think I have tried it on about 6 times. I can't figure out how to wear it without looking frumpy. It's black but it falls, to me, very weirdly on my body. I think I can't tuck a shirt into it....what do you think...any outfit suggestions?

Sore and Lovin' It

Happy Hump Day! I am so sore. I did my first crossfit workout on Monday night and it was amazing yet painful at the same time. I am sso excited to be starting this journey and I plan on sharing it with all of you. I know my posts are kind of all over the place with fashion, lifestyle and fitness. To me, these are the three things that hold my life together. Anyways, our first workout was the following:
AMRAP (as many reps as possible) 15 min
15 Deadlifts (I did 75lbs)
15 overhead lunges (25lbs, see picture of it, not me, below)
15 kettlebell swings (18lbs-might've been able to do more!)

I ended up finished 6 full rounds!

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's to everyone! I love valentine's day and I want you all to know I love and appreciate you coming and reading my blog. Have a great day and even though this day is super commercialized, take it for what it is and just love on people!!!

A Weekend and some Love

[Leggings: NY&C, Dress: about 7 yrs old can't remember, Flats: Carlos Santana, Sweater: NY&C]
Happy Monday! I am in a great mood because I had such a great weekend, I got a Deep Tissue Massage and spent time with really great people. Being around positive, fun people is always the best way to keep your spirit up and feeding off their positive energy is empowering.

Tomorrow is Valentines Day! I'm a dork and love it. I love an excuse to tell people I care about them and love on them.Oh, and a day I actually feel comfortable wearing an obnoxious shade of pink! Don't forget to show the person or important people in your life you love them tomorrow!

Highlights

[Boots: Rainbow, Jeans and T: GAP, Cardigan: Japan (?), Scarf #1: Anthropologie, Scarf #2: Pier 1]
Yes, I am wearing two different scarves in these pictures. I ended up wearing the green one solely because it is warmer than the pretty patterned one. So for some reason when I realized this I thought of the magazine Highlights; I remember going into the doctor's office and trying to find what's different in the two pictures! haha I used to get SO mad when someone else would circle the answers and then leave the magazine there. Ruined my whole doctor's visits! Oh childhood memories.....have a great weekend!

Don't Complicate It

Pinned Image

When I first saw this above and below pins (I am pinterest obsessed), I felt like they was made for me. I have always had a problem with overthinking and not following my gut, not necessarily in my personal things aka my job, fitness etc, but mostly in my relationships, both friends and with guys. I have always spent my time trying to make the other person happy and over-analyzing everything everyone says and does. In recent months, I feel like I have become conscious of this and have been able to make significant changes in my life and in turn have become so much happier. I dont need to take everything personal and I don't need to hold anything back. If you are doing something I don't like, I am going to tell you, but if you are doing something I love, I am going to tell you too. I feel like this is such a simple realization, but I feel freed. By not overthinking, I get upset or angry less often, I rarely feel lonely and everyone in my life, for the most part, knows how I feel about them and our relationship. It really puts you at peace. :)

Have a great Thursday!

Curly

[Boots: White Mountain, Jeans: Guess, Top: Charlotte Russe, Sweater: NY&C, Necklace: H&M]
This is actually one of my favorite recent outfits. This blue is one of my favorite colors and my hair actually came out good curly, and trust me that is not the case most days! These are also a new pair of jeans my Dad (yes, I am a brat) bought me from Lord and Taylor. It's funny because I usually am not a big fan of the fit of Guess clothing, but these jeans are so perfect: the color can be dressed up or dressed down, the leg is skinny enough to fit perfectly into boots and not gonna lie, but I think my butt looks damn good in them haha! And last but not least, they don't stretch out. I have been wearing mostly jeggings for the past year and I feel like I need to wash them every two times I wore them. These fit the same every time!

Beginning

Well, I am in a pretty good mood today for a few reasons. 1. THE GIANTS ARE SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONS!!!!!! 2. I get to brag about winning the Super Bowl for the next 365 days.... 3. I am starting my Crossfit 'journey' tonight! I am joining a crossfit gym, I bought new sneakers and I am so ready to continue to transform my body. If you don't know about crossfit, look it up, such a great way to workout and stay motivated. I really needed a change in my workouts and something to keep me going. Here are some of the crossfit inspiration I have to change to my body!

GO GMEN!

This is what I wore to the NFC Championship game and I will be wearing the exact same thing again today. GO BIG BLUE!!!! GMEN BABY!!!

Bright, Strong and Beautiful

[Boots: Kenneth Cole, Pants and Top: F21]
HAPPY FRIDAY! So, I am in a great mood today. Not only because these red pants I have on in this picture are awesome, but because I started crossfit last night. I really feel like I am going to be able to transform my body with these workouts. One of my favorite things about the class/gym is that no matter what your size, gender or fitness level, you can do the workouts. Everything is tailored to each individual person and you do as much as you can and at your pace. At the same time though, there is a level of competition that you feel and it drives you to work out harder. Ah. so excited. Now I just need to find a good yoga class!

The fitter I am the better my clothes fit!

Royal Blue

[Boots: Rainbow, Skirt: F21, Top: H&M, Cardigan Below: NY&C]
Honestly, I will probably never forget this outfit because I wore it the day I bought my new car. When I was 16 years old, I bought a Pontiac G6 in black and had it ever since then. I never really took care of it to be honest, I just didn't like it that much, but at the same time it was perfect for my first car. Now, all on my own, I am leasing a 2012 Special Edition Honda Accord! It's so pretty. Not quite my dream car, but I am only 22, I have a long way to go! It feels so good to be driving around in something I am proud of. I even got the windows tinted to make it look even more sexy.

Oh and as for the outfit, this skirt is one of my favorite colors, I think its time to start working on bringing it more into my wardrobe, maybe jeans?!
