The High Line-Beauty

Last week, I met up with my good friend from Semester at Sea to walk on the Highline. I arrived a little bit early, so I took the liberty to explore the area a little bit. Underneath the entrance, there is a eating area with delicious truck food, a bar with some on-point beer choices, a mini-Uniqlo shop and a roller skating rink. You could practically spend the day there without even stepping on the Highline. Unfortunately I did not get around to the skating portion, but I did have a yummy chicken sandwich and took some good, but really bright pictures (remember, I don't edit my photos at all, so clearly the sun was really strong that day!)

Anyways, we spent the next couple of hours talking and talking and walking along this beautiful structure built in the middle of NYC. Reminds me why I love this place so much and lucky me I now get to work in it! Full-time-real-adult-with-a-schedule-job here I come!

Hope-Tattoo

I've mentioned a few times in the past few weeks that I got my first tattoo and here it is! Now what does it mean.
Hope: this word has always meant a lot to me. Having hope in the future and not feeling let down or giving up. Putting hope in other people and encouraging them. Staying positive and hoping for the best. Without hope, you have nothing, to me at least. Hope is the foundation of a good attitude and the basis of the smile that is consistently on my face. Hope is the grounds for looking forward to living and to tomorrow. In addition, hope is a representation of my memory of my dear friend, Brian, that passed away a couple of months ago. His parents started Brian's Foundation of Hope in his honor.

The feather: stands for taking life for what it is and letting the "wind take you" where you need to go. I've learned that making a plan for everything doesn't always work out and sometimes you have to take life for what it is and work with it.

Well there is the synopsis of my first and only tattoo. I've been waiting to figure out exactly what I wanted before I got it and here it is!

Pretty in Pastels

[Shorts: Banana Republic, Shirt: J.Crew, Shoes and Necklace: American Eagle Outfitters]
Normally I would pair both these shorts and this shirt with a bright colored complement, but I decided to change it up and I was really happy with the result. I couldn't resist but add in a little animal print to this outfit, what outfit could not use some, right?

The picture below kind of describes how I felt the other day when I found out I will be taking classes to start grad school eventually and I got a full time job in NYC starting this week! I am so excited for these changes in my life and I will definitely keep you updated :) For now, we made it through Irene and stay fashionable dears.

Beauty

I have been collecting these photos on my Pinterest the past couple of months. For some reason bows pull me in; they're extremely feminine, remind me of being a young girl and although they are so simply structured, they can vary in color, texture, neatness, effect, feminine versatility.

For a little bit of a memory. When I was in Elementary school, I remember it was school picture day and every year my mom and I curled my hair for the pictures. For some reason, my hair did not take the way it normally did and my hair came out disastrous. Solution: hair up with a giant bow covering it. I will never forget the pictures and how I am able to laugh at the whole situation. Oh bows, saving my class picture.

Proportion Help

[I'm not sure why my eyes are closed!]
#1 check out my favorite new shoes. Steve Madden, on sale. so comfortable. best recent buy.

The weather has been a little chilly lately (chilly meaning below the 90 degree humidity I've been used to) so I got to pull out a pair of pants. I'm not sure if I was exactly happy with the way this shirt looked with the pants, but I would love suggestions. Do you think the top is too bulky to be tucked in like this? I love wearing a little bit higher waisted pants and shorts, but sometimes I have a little difficulty with the proportions. help!

Last but not least I wore this outfit to the movies with my mom and brother and then out with my friends to get my first tattoo (Pictures coming soon!) and out to dinner :)

Appreciation

I was waiting on line in one of the H&Ms in Soho and I had to take these photos. This artwork was beautiful and really caught my eye. Soho is the perfect place for this to be situated because it is full of classic, new, old, expensive and bargain stores all trying to give the world the fashion fix it needs. I spent one day last week wandering around Soho browsing and taking in the atmosphere my personality feeds off of. I people watched like you wouldn't believe and actually tried to stop and enjoy the scenery rather than just walk in and out of stores. Do you ever take the time to stop and make an ordinary place a day of sightseeing? Next stop, South Street Seaport, the Highline and Central Park. :)

[this is art too]

Cluelessly Inspired

This past weekend was my best friend Katie's 22nd Birthday. First, we had a nice dinner with her family, she opened presents and we ate a delicious strawberry shortcake (see below!) Afterward, we headed out to the local bars with her boyfriend and we just had some great conversation, relaxed and did some people watching. It will be our 7th year of birthdays as friends and it feels so good to know I have someone I can truly rely on and can understand my past, present and future. I sound so corny (so not like me), but I am so grateful for her, so to Katie, Happy Birthday Week!!! And everyone congratulate her on her new big girl, real world job as well!!!

On a side note, check out my outfit. Halfway through the night I realized I looked like Cher from Clueless. Seriously, her style never fades!

[Top: F21, Skirt: Necessary Clothing, Shoes: BCBG]

City Girl

[new ring from F21: has a little Latin feel to it no?]

[Dress: Banana Republic, Shoes: BCBGeneration, Necklace: BCBG, Watch: Michael Kors]
I definitely went a little more of a dressy route for my day of wandering around the city. Normally I would throw on a pair of shorts and some flats, but I felt like walking through Soho and feeling on top of the world. This dress was definitely one of my favorite buys. It fits perfectly. Literally. It's one of those dresses that falls in all the right places and hides all the wrong places. Every woman's dream.

Anyways. I wandered around Soho shopping and sightseeing (Yes, NYers sightsee in NY too, it's that beautiful). I mostly just enjoyed the beautiful weather and even picked up some fresh cut mango someone was selling on the street. It was delicious! I am so grateful for days like these, I feel like it really keeps me sane.
